117 spent shell casings found after shootout that left Upstate woman dead, sheriff says


Four people have been arrested after a woman was shot to death at a Spartanburg County apartment complex last month, according to Sheriff Chuck Wright. Deputies responded on March 13 to a report of a shooting incident at Quail Pointe Apartments at 460 E. Blackstock Road.Paris Janai Kennedy, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner. On Thursday, Wright announced the following arrests in the case: Zechariah James Utecht, 19 Tyrease Sherrod Martinez, 21 Napoleon Demajcea Rhodes, 20 Seven Terrell Keenon, 20 All four of the people above are charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Wright said. Wright said when deputies arrived at the complex they found a large crowd of people and Kennedy in the parking lot. They said they found 117 spent shell casings in the parking lot as well. Wright said based upon forensic evidence and witness statements, investigators believe that this incident was a shootout between two groups of males. Kennedy was not a participant in this incident, Wright said.
