A person perished Wednesday night in a fire that heavily damaged a townhouse in Bear, the State Fire Marshal’s Office said.
Flames were shooting out of a townhouse when firefighters arrived to the 100 block of Council Circle in the Village of Tahoe about 10 p.m., Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio said.
A search of the house found one person who had died inside, Chionchio said.
“The Delaware Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy to provide positive identification of the victim and cause of death,” he said.
No other injuries were reported.
